Chemistry is an exciting subject, full of interesting new concepts. In senior high school, these concepts can be a little tricky to conquer, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be scary or tricky! This guide is full of tips and tricks for all your assessments in the Chemistry curriculum, to help you stay on top of the content, make good study plans, and ace your assessments. Hope it helps!

How to study for IAs

For your data test, the best advice I can give you is to do as many practice questions as you can focusing on maths, graphs and numbers. You can find practice questions from your teacher, past papers, textbooks, worksheets and external resources.

For your student experiment, I'd recommend you create timelines for your group, finish your full draft and make your research question and conclusion specific.

Lastly, for your research investigation, you should make a full plan for the report, submit a complete draft before the due date, choose the topic that interests you the most and give yourself time to proofread.

How to study for the external assessment

The best way to study for the external assessment is by revising the content. To get the best results, use multiple methods such as note taking, writing in different notebooks, creating a set of flash cards and making study groups. Make sure you do as many practice questions as possible from a variety of different resources.

Exam day

I'd recommend using the full reading time to go through every question. Base how much you write on the number of marks it will earn you. Have a structure for how you go through the test.
